Het Ballonnetje — Dutch for "The Balloon" — is one of the best coffeeshops in Amsterdam, located on Roetersstraat in the charming Plantage neighbourhood of central Amsterdam. Just minutes from the city centre, the perfect coffeeshop near Artis Zoo and Hortus Botanicus, this is one of Amsterdam's most beloved and historic corners.
First opening our doors in 1978, we are proud to be one of the most historic coffeeshops in Amsterdam. We don't have a lot of frills — just genuine quality, knowledgeable staff, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps locals and visitors coming back for decades.

Yes, there is parking available right in front of the shop and in the surrounding area. Please note that parking costs €7.50 per hour.
You must be 18 years or older to enter. A valid ID or passport is required — no exceptions. We check everyone at the door.
We are a cosy, intimate space and do not take reservations. It's first come, first served — so come early to grab your favourite spot!
Yes, we have free WiFi available for all our guests. Just ask our staff for the details when you visit.
No outside drinks are allowed. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on our premises, and for safety reasons we do not allow any outside bottles or drinks regardless of their contents. We offer a wide selection of hot and cold beverages in-store.
Yes! We sell our famous Space Cakes in Chocolate, Vanilla and Rainbow flavours. Please note that we do not sell CBD products or vape pens.
We ask all guests to respect each other and the relaxed atmosphere of our shop. Please keep phone calls to a minimum and avoid FaceTime or video calls. Laptops are not permitted at the tables. Our guests come here to unwind — let's keep it that way for everyone! 🎈
